Clatsop Beach Oregon

View from Chapman’s Point in Ecola State Park towards Cannon Beach, Oregon in c. 1900, titled “Clatsop Beach” (Benjamin Gifford in his Art Works of the State of Oregon) and 2016 (CW-2016-04-16-0784).1 The original viewpoint trail in the park is now closed to the public due to erosion from the Pacific Ocean waves. Walter and I had to sneak out here in the early morning before the park rangers came to work. We were partially legal– see the dog leash. On the way back to the parking lot, we got some nasty looks from the more law-abiding early-bird photographers that had arrived at first light but were held behind the fence and signs. We didn’t go straight to the 4-Runner… there’s always the chance of being followed by a sleuth with a cell phone.
