Banff & Mount Norquay: A Classic Wildfire Problem

Mount Norquay above the town of Banff in c. 1905 (Library of Congress-4a06452u), and in 2014 (CW-2014-08-19-2274).

The scenic drive, chairlift and ski area on Mt. Norquay are treasured by Banffites and those from further afield. But the vegetation change here and level of human use here make this a classic “wicked wildfire problem”– where all the Bow Valley’s problems are evident.
