Yancey’s Hole: Seton’s Main Beaver Pond

Ernest Thompson Seton’s “main beaver pond” in Yancey’s Hole, Yellowstone National Park in 1897 (Seton’s map), and repeated Google Earth images starting in 1994. High numbers of elk (up to ~2010), and subsequently bison have removed most willows, making restoration beaver and their ecological processes unlikely in this area of Yellowstone.
